[Rules] World Structure Empty [Rules] World Structure

Post by Matthew Gothel 3/9/2015, 4:12 pm

All Universal Realms forums use a unique forum structure. The basis of this is that each forum represents a single world. Categories separate the main rules section for explaining that world, the world itself, and any extraneous areas unrelated to the forum's world that the admin chooses to make.

In the world category (or categories, depending on the forum), there are sub-sections, each section representing a region of that world. These regions may be large cities, mountains, valleys, space docks, planetoids, oceans, and more. Within each region are threads that either represent a location, like a building, street, room, district, cave, ruin, etc., or they may represent a storyline or part of a storyline that takes place in that region.

Threads in Universal Realms forums are identified by a "tag" that indicates what that thread is used for. If you are making a new thread, it is asked that you place the appropriate tag within [braces] before the name of the thread, as can be seen in this thread's title. The different tags you may see are as follows:

  • Casual: Casual tags indicate a location used for light Role-Playing. These areas are places for interacting with other characters or the environment peacefully, and may be serious or silly in mood depending on the location and current events. Please do not attack other players or even NPCs in casual threads.
  • Dungeon: Dungeon threads are like casual threads in that they are used for light RP, but differ by allowing fighting between characters and against NPCs.
  • Story: Story threads, unlike most casual and dungeon threads, are threads made by players who intend to host a more serious Role-Play storyline. Having stories hosted on their own threads makes it easy to keep track of the story as a whole and allows characters to interact with world locations however they want without disrupting the casual or dungeon threads. When a storyline moves to another region or even to another world, it is recommended to keep a single title for that story and indicate how far along in the story a given story thread is using a number system.
  • Rules: I don't know why this isn't first, but Rules threads are used to explain forum mechanics like right now, or to explain a region. It is recommended that you read any Rules threads you see before making an account.

In addition to these tags, a forum may have tags to indicate threads used for discussing game ideas, FAQs, spamming, or gaming. Be sure to look at a forum's rules category to learn as much as you can about that forum in advance.

New thread tags you may encounter include:

  • Input: These threads are designed for input by players, whether it be opinions on an issue or idea, or new ideas themselves.
  • Game: Game threads, usually found in the not-yet-made spam forum, are for games that are not necessarily related to Entherium.
